Up to six million visits every year the city receives German for Oktoberfest, the beer festival. Two weeks of celebration with many other entertainment suitable for all audiences

Up to six million visits every year the city receives German for Oktoberfest, the beer festival. Two weeks of celebration with many other entertainment suitable for all audiences

That that gentlemen prefer blondes he is nothing short of Munich, for the gentlemen and ladies, during Oktoberfest consumed no less than six million liters of beer, most ‘blondes’, served in huge mugs a liter cater for the name of mass. The figures seems a lot, but not touch, whether it is estimated that about six are also the millions of visits to the campus during the two weeks of the festival. So, given that not a few of them throughout the day can decant to ten liters without blinking, it follows that many will not even try.

And is that fair beer, despite its name is ethyl is not only an incentive for drinker’s championship. And groups of friends arrived from halfway around the world to celebrate the Oktoberfest is also packed families and even children, who are here for them a lot of entertainment, such as carousels, rides, roller coasters and many other attractions scattered throughout the vast outdoor enclosure in which the festival takes place.

The fair, which will start next September 19 when the mayor of Munich opens the first barrel exclaiming as the tradition dictates that the “Ozapft ist”-or, which is the same, spigot is! -, Will last until 4 October with parades dressed in their Bavarian costumes, marching bands, parades of horse carts loaded with barrels and, of course, the huge beer tents that the big brands on the vast esplanade planted the Theresienwiese or simply the Wiesn, as I say every year unconditional reserve a few days off for anyone not put them kick in the celebration.

From ten in the morning until ten o’clock at night, go gallons served from wooden tables inside the tents by the hefty waitresses who crammed into the typical women wearing dirndl from Bavaria on special occasions are capable of carrying in each hand nearly a dozen jars, even empty, and would weigh his own. To accompany much fluid during the fair also shipped almost 200,000 pairs of traditional German sausages and boxes and boxes of donuts “Bretzeln”, besides the best atmosphere around the country, with permission from Berlin.

The Oktoberfest, which began to be celebrated in 1810 on the occasion of the wedding of Ludwig I of Bavaria and Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen, is now recognized as the larger festival on the planet. Of the six major breweries in the city, the Hofbräuhaus is the most spectacular rides tent with a capacity of about 10,000 visitors, but within the beautiful and historic city of Munich, the firm has a huge brewery also for Spanish standards and with a decor and ambience, with orchestra and all, purely Bavarian-which escape when it had been fair enough for a day.

That is the time to take advantage to explore the palaces studded with classic squares and baroque churches of the city, the third largest in Germany and one of the most beautiful in the country, these days also packed with people of all ages who want to fun.

Some clues
The entrance to the grounds is free Theresienwiese, like the carp, although getting a seat at the communal tables of the most important wood is sometimes impossible. In each of them can be proven different beers produced by large factories: Augustiner, Paulaner, Spaten-Franziskaner, Löwenbräu, Hacker-Pschorr and Hofbräu. The price them out of the typical mass-liter-mugs of this year ranged between 8.30 and 8.60 €. Also on campus are smaller tents where it is often easier to find a table.

In the Tourist Office of Spain and Germany in Munich as well as on the official site of the Oktoberfest, with all the information to enjoy the festival and the city, and even possibility of booking a hotel for her these days.
